Mother of Pearls Public Relations

BRAND CREATION

Mother of Pearls Public Relations works where curiosity lives. There is no permanent office. No desks. Their work happens inside their clients’ worlds – conference rooms, hallways, break rooms, and leadership meetings. Two veteran journalists built the firm around a simple belief: stories reveal themselves when you stay close to the work. That seemingly simple instinct has shaped everything that their Carmel-based brand has come to be known for.

So, as we worked to build their brand, we leaned into that same curiosity. Jake Engel, co-founder of Artifactual, interviewed Mother of Pearls’ clients and followed the trail of insights they left behind. Patterns surfaced quickly. This firm earned trust by going deeper. By learning alongside their clients instead of advising from a distance.

Through that process, the brand took shape as a deeply curious public relations firm – intentionally positioned as the right size. Big enough to guide complex organizations. Close enough to stay hands-on, present, and invested.

Artifactual created their new brand mission, vision, and values first, then went on to design their brand voice and visual identity to support these goals. The brand look is centered around a seasoned, professional homage to a quiet beach town. The Mother of Pearls name becomes a metaphor carried through language and visuals, focused on rarity, protection, depth, value formed over time.

This work clarified what Mother of Pearls already knew intuitively. They are most valuable when they are embedded, asking questions, and learning alongside their clients. The brand gives that approach a clear shape – one that allows them to grow while staying hands-on and present.
